Movement on the Mountain - FINALLY!
The team has moved up to Camp III at 11,200 feet. Finally! They left Camp II at about 10:00 a.m. and got up to Camp III at 1:00 p.m. It took a couple of hours to dig out spots for all the tents and get everything set up. They are now waiting on hot drinks. This is a very important daily event! Not only for warmth but also for morale. Wes has a nice view of some of the mountains lower in the valley. He said it is about 10 degrees right now (6:15 pm his time). There are a lot of clouds but no wind. The pressure is dropping so he's not sure how the weather is going to hold up. The team is still doing well. A couple of people have come down with a cough. Wes said that he seems to be the designated guy to shovel out the spot for the latrine (to put it nicely). This is his third time doing it. It sounds like he makes it pretty fancy. It has snow (what else) walls and a tarp over it for some privacy. They even have a waiting booth outside and some built in shelves. Don't ask me what they need shelves for. Tomorrow they plan to climb to 13,500 at Windy Point to cache some gear. They will dig about a three foot hole to store all their stuff. The team will then come back down to Camp III for the night.
