Arrived at Camp I
Wes called in at 7:15 pm Alaska time. The team has made it to Camp I at 7,822 feet. All of the team made it to Base Camp last night. The last of the team flew in at 8:00 p.m. They were the last to fly in for the day. He says everyone is in great spirits. The team started out from Base Camp at about noon today. They hiked for six hours over the lower Kahiltna Glacier. They are currently setting up camp. The stoves are up and running and they are getting ready to fix dinner. Burritos are on the menu for tonight (much better than a grilled cheese sandwich like last year). The sleeping arrangements are three people per tent. Wes' tentmates are Baron and Dan. It is currently about 40 degrees with some patchy fog. Wes said that it felt like it was about 80 degrees when they were hiking today because they were working so hard. The plan for tomorrow is to climb to Camp II at around 9,000 feet.
