Weather on Denali Strikes Again
Received a call from Wes at 7:30 pm (Alaska time). The storm system that the ranger told them about has rolled in. Wes spent most of the day in Talkeetna waiting out the weather. Only half of the team is at Base Camp (Wes included). The other half of the team is still in Talkeetna. Wes got to Base Camp about 6:30 pm his time. The planes will fly until about 9:00 pm - hopefully the rest of the team will make it to Base Camp tonight. They will be spending the night at Base Camp after all. If all the team arrives at Base Camp tonight then tomorrow they will head out for Camp I. The weather was touch and go all day. At Base Camp it is about 10 degrees, very foggy with little to no wind. The storm that is coming in is supposed to get worse tomorrow and then move out by Sunday. I only had about 30 seconds to talk to Wes because the satellite phone cut out. He tried calling again but it was all garbled for about 15 seconds and cut out again. I will try to get as much information as possible in a very short time span to keep you all updated.
