Last minute items
Well, I'm pretty much packed up and ready to leave for my Monday morning departure. I still have some last minute items to purchase...of course. Nothing REI can't handle. I land in Anchorage around 1:30 P.M. Monday, and drive 3 1/2 hours to a small town called Talkeetna Tuesday evening. On Wednesday the team will attend a National Park Service presentation on expedition climbing and special considerations in Denali National Park & Preserve followed by a thorough gear check. If the weather cooperates on Thursday the team will fly to the S.E. fork of the Kahiltna Glacier where base camp is located. Base camp is approximately at 7,300 feet. 20 miles farther, 13,020 feet higher, and 3 weeks later we should be on the summit.
